Skills vs. personality?

When recruiting, which do you consider more important: an employee's current skills or their personality and value system?

Already acquired skills can be of immense importance, especially when you need to get straight to the heart of the advertised role. But. Skills go out of date, whereas a person's character and inner world remain. Calmness, conscientiousness, reliability, curiosity, openness, perseverance, and a genuine ability and desire to learn are traits that cannot be taught on a course.

My own experience has taught me the following: When you choose the right attitude for the team and genuinely care about the person, deep trust is born. That is when they grow, flourish and stay loyal to their employer until the end of time. Even a quiet and initially insecure junior quickly becomes a strong professional and a golden asset to the employer, as long as you just give them a chance, believe and trust in them, and are there to support them.
