The Tikkurila Transport Ring Arena, located in the Tikkurila Sports Park in Vantaa, has been equipped with a brand-new scoreboard system from Jidoka. The arena is a versatile ice sports centre that hosts a wide range of matches and events at various levels, including the Mestis league. The hall is home to Puck Vantaa.
The ice rink's centre-hung scoreboard was in need of an upgrade, so we delivered a scoreboarding system designed for ice hockey to the existing centre-hung scoreboard. The updated system allows for clear and real-time presentation of match data, as well as flexible content management for the needs of various events.
A WiseHockey integration has been implemented into the system, enabling real-time synchronisation of the match status and clock with WiseHockey. The match status is continuously forwarded, ensuring the data and scoreboard remain in sync. In addition, an integration for the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation (SJL) has also been brought into the system, through which match-related information, such as line-ups and player lists, can be obtained.
As an innovative addition, AI-based announcements were created, meaning the system automatically generates announcement text from events and repeats it as speech. The announcements work with SJL data so that the announcements contain the correct player information. AI-based announcements can automate part of the match event's communication and provide fast and consistent announcements.
The ice rink changing rooms also received a total of 7 changing room screens, which can be used to display game schedules and other important information for teams and officials. In addition, a separate screen was installed for the field staff, which provides a centralised view of the status of both Rink 1 and Rink 2. This makes it easy to, for example, monitor the progress of matches being played simultaneously in both rinks.
